MONARCH MEN'S TENNIS READY FOR REMATCH WITH CROSS-TOWN RIVALS

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The second-seeded King's College tennis team will play for the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship on Saturday when they make the very short trip to the Ralston Athletic Complex to face top-seeded and 10-time defending conference champion Wilkes University. The match will begin at 12:00 p.m.

The Monarchs are making their first appearance in the Championship match since 2015 where they fell to the Colonels 5-0. The Colonels and Monarchs met in the Championship every year from 2012-2015 with Wilkes winning each time.

King's advanced with a 5-3 victory over FDU-Florham on Wednesday while Wilkes cruised to a 5-0 victory over Wilkes University. The Monarchs are 14-6 overall this year and went 5-1 in conference play with their only loss coming at the hands of Wilkes. Senior Nathan Carl has gone 13-10 this year at number one singles while sophomore Tyler Millan has led the Monarchs with a 21-4 record playing number two singles. Senior Terry Briggs is 11-11 at number three singles and freshman Austin Mackey is 20-6 playing at number four. Sophomore Cameron Tuck has recorded a 13-9 record playing number five singles and freshman Jason Homschek is 15-10 at number six.

Wilkes is 19-5 this season and went a perfect 6-0 in MAC Freedom play. Courtney Murphy leads the Colonels at number one singles with a 13-3 record. Artyom Nabokin has gone 16-10 at number two while Jonathan White has recorded a 17-6 mark at number three singles. At number four singles Andrew Neidig has a 14-6 record, Chris Maderitz is 18-3 at number five, and Ryan Simon has gone 17-8 at number six.

King's and Wilkes meet on the courts last week where the Colonels picked up a 8-1 victory. Carl and Millan won King's lone match at number one doubles by an 8-6 score.
