WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (September 17, 2018) – The volleyball team continues its slate of MAC Freedom Conference action on the road Tuesday evening on the road against Manhattanville at Kennedy Gymnasium in Purchase, N.Y. in another important conference match. The Monarchs (8-3) are looking for the win column in conference play while Manhattanville (7-1) is seeking its fifth straight victory and a 2-0 start in conference play.

Last Time Out: The Monarchs competed in the Hartwick Invitational at Hartwick over the weekend; they earned wins against SUNY Poly and Hilbert , and lost to Hartwick and SUNY Oneonta.
Rachel Miller recorded 61 kills, 24 of them against SUNY Poly, 48 digs, and a .279 hitting percentage in the tournament.
Wiatt Hoffmann recorded 99 assists. Miller recorded her 1,000
th career dig in the tournament.
The Book on King's:
- King's defeated Manhattanville last year in a five-set barn-burner at McGrane.
- With her historic week last week, senior Rachel Miller now has with 169 kills and 4.23 kills per set; she leads the MAC Freedom in both categories.
- In the Monarch's four-set win over SUNY Poly, Miller set the school record with 24 kills in a four-set match, surpassing the mark of 23 set by Aimee Coleman in 1999.
- Miller joined Coleman, Faith O'Dell, and Michelle Simcoe as the only players in program history with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
- Miller's play last week was good enough to be named MAC Freedom Player of the Week.
- Miller and newcomer Danielle Kitchner are tied for sixth in the conference with a .270 hitting percentage.
- Sophomore Rachel Galante leads the Monarchs with 12 blocks on the season.
- Galante also tied a personal best with nine kills against SUNY Poly on Friday night.
- First-year libero Taylor Mueller has 5.77 digs per set, second in the conference, and good for placing in the top 20 in Division III in that category.
The Book on Manhattanville:
- Manhattanville is seeking its second trip to the MAC Freedom playoffs in three years. They were picked fifth of eight teams in the MAC Freedom preseason coaches' poll.
- Manhattanville has a .200 team hitting percentage so far, good for second highest in the MAC Freedom.
- The Valiants have 111 errors this season, the fewest among the eight MAC Freedom squads.
- Opponents have struggled against the Valiants, as they have recorded a .081 hitting percentage against them, giving Manhattanville the second lowest opponent hitting percentage in the conference.
- Manhattanville has allowed just 0.89 blocks per set, the lowest in the conference.
- Senior Laura Livolsi leads the team with 93 kills, and is fourth best in the conference with 3.44 kills per set.
- Sophomore Monica Lopez is averaging 6.07 digs per set, the best mark in the MAC.
- Lopez was named to the first-team All-MAC Freedom last year, and was third in NCAA Division III Volleyball with 6.60 digs per set.
- Head coach Amanda Alayon has an overall record of 112-98, and is in her eighth season as head coach of the Valiants.
