Monarch Men’s Soccer Match Notes – Frostburg State

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 21, 2018) – The King's College men's soccer team will head south to Maryland for their first real road trip of the year with a match against Frostburg State University on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Bobcat Stadium.

Last Time Out: King's tallied the lone goal on the scoreboard late in regulation when August Axtman scored his second goal of the season off a free kick from Quentin Szeker-Cortes to secure the win over Cabrini University. Owen Geedey was fantastic in net making five saves including four huge ones in the second half to keep the Cavaliers off the board.
 
The Book On The Monarchs (4-3-1):
  • The standout King's defense has been solid so far this season only allowing just three goals in eight matches and that has them ranked first in the conference and 16th in the nation with a goals against average of 0.35. The Monarch defense is also ranked 35th in the nation and best in the conference with a 0.625 shutout percentage.
  • Senior Owen Geedey has been a big reason why the defensive numbers have been so good especially recently. The goalkeeper is third in the nation with 761:42 minutes played and has five shutouts this season which is ranked third in the nation. He is currently the school record holder with 27 career shutouts. His .880 save percentage is the best in the conference while his 0.35 goals against average is 19th in the nation. In the past two matches the reigning MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week has made spectacular save after spectacular save to increase his save percentage from .833 to where it is
  • Junior Aidan DeCamillo is tied for sixth in the MAC Freedom with two goals on the season. His five points are tied for ninth in the conference.
  • Junior August Axtman leads the conference and is 34th in the nation with two game-winning goals.
  • The Monarchs have received one goal each from senior Steven Grebe, junior Fabio Massa, and sophomore Liam McLoughlin.
  • Freshman Quentin Szeker-Cortes is tied for fifth in the conference with two assists. Junior Ryan Romeo has one assist on the year.
  • King's is outshooting their opponents 134-43 this year and have put 52 shots on goal. The team leads the conference and are third in the nation with 8.63 corner kicks taken per match.
  • McLoughlin leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 20 shots. His 2.50 shot per match is seventh in the MAC Freedom.
The Book On The Bobcats (3-5):
  • Frostburg State enters Saturday's match with a 3-5 record after a 2-1 loss against Dickinson College on Wednesday. The Bobcats are 2-2 in Bobcat Stadium this year.
  • FSU features a rather young roster with just eight juniors and seniors. They were picked to finish sixth in the highly-competitive Capital Athletic Conference during their last season as a member of Division III. The Bobcats will be moving up to Division II next year.
  • Sophomore Mo Odolla is leading the team with three goals. He is ranked fifth in the CAC with 16 shots and fourth with 1.50 shots per game and a.563 shot accuracy.
  • Sophomore Randy Putnam has scored two goals and added two assists for six points. Senior defender has scored twice while playing in just two matches.
  • The Bobcats have received one goal each from five different student-athletes.
  • FSU is outshooting their opponents 114-98 this year. They are drawing 9.00 fouls a match which ranks second in the CAC and 72nd in the nation.
  • Freshman Joel Assal leads the CAC and is tenth in the nation with 728:08 minutes played. He has a GAA of 1.48 and a save percentage of .684 while recording one shutout for the Bobcats this season. His 26 saves are ranked fourth in the CAC.
  • This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs on the pitch.
