WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 4, 2018) – The King's College field hockey team will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon at 6 p.m. when the team travels down to Gwynedd Valley to take on the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University. The Monarchs fell 4-1 in their season opener on Friday at Elmira.

Last Time Out: King's had trouble finding the back of the cage in a 4-1 loss at Elmira to begin the season on Friday afternoon. The Monarchs outshot the Soaring Eagles 30-9 in the game.
Jolee Treslar scored King's lone goal off an assist from
Hannah Robbins. Elmira scored all four of their goals off eight penalty corners.

- Senior Kelsey Gabriele leads the MAC Freedom in shots per game with 14.00 after the opening weekend.
- Freshman Jolee Treslar is tied for seventh in the MAC Freedom with two points on one goal and is third in shots per game with 5.00.
- Freshman Hannah Robbins is tied for third in the conference with one assist.

The Book On The Griffins (1-0):
- The Griffins began the year with a 2-1 victory at 2017 MAC Freedom Champion Misericordia University. It was the third straight year GMU has begun the season with a victory over the Cougars.
- Gwynedd Mercy earned the CSAC automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament last season and finished with a 17-4 record including going undefeated against CSAC teams. The Griffins fell 5-3 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Trinity (CT).
- Maggie Walsh and Lauren Jani scored a goal each for the Griffins against Misericordia to rank tied for fourth in the newly former Atlantic East Conference.
- Shannon Carroll and Julia McKenzie lead the team with an assist each.
- Michaela Swenk and Kaitlyn Lutz have recorded three shots each and are tied for third in the AEC in shots per game with 3.00.
- Abi Kennedy has a .750 save percentage making three saves while facing seven shots in cage.
- GMU outshot Misericordia 13-7 and held an 8-4 advantage in penalty corners.
- The Monarchs are 2-1 all-time against the Griffins and 1-0 when playing in Gwynedd Valley. King's won the first two meeting between the programs in 1999 and 2000 by scores of 2-1 and 3-2. GMU defeated the Monarchs 3-2 in Dallas last season on the opening weekend.
