Monarch Wrestling Match Notes - Lycoming College

WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 24, 2019) — The Monarchs (1-15) stay on the road and head to Lycoming College (11-2) to face the Warriors in a MAC Freedom dual. This is the first conference bout King's College will compete in this season.

Last Time Out:  The Monarchs drop to the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons 50-6 in their Wednesday evening match up. The Red Dragons advance to 6-4 while the Monarchs are now 1-15. Dakota Quick got the only win of the night with a pin at 4:23.

The Book on the Monarchs: 
  • The last time King's saw Lycoming was at the Lycoming Duals where the Warriors won 59-0.
  • Matt Sparks currently holds the most takedowns with 44 in his 34 total matches on the season
  • Quick holds the most wins by fall on the team with 13 and a total of 21 wins on the season.
  • Quick also tops the team in team points with 103 after his last match.
 
The Book on the Warriors: 
  • Lycoming is 7-2 in at-home bouts.
  • Since 2013 the Warriors are undefeated against King's.
  • Trevor Corl had a great showing last time that Lycoming wrestled which was against Washington & Lee and Wesleyan. He was undefeated on the day with a technical fall the first match against Washington & Lee and a 4-3 decision against Wesleyan.
  • Travis Ogden was able to replicate the same thing as Trevor Corl but had a 4-0 decision against Washington & Lee and a 14-4 major over Wesleyan.
  • Garrett Wesneski had a phenomenal showing at HWT where he was able to pin both of his opponents in under a minute and a half each.
 
Up Next: The Monarchs will face Elizabethtown College in their first home match since the Ned McGinley Invitational since November. Friday, February 1, at 7:00 p.m. in the McGrane Gymnasium King's will defend their home turf.
