WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 30, 2019) — The Monarchs (1-16, 0-1) are home for their first match since the Ned McGinley Invitational to compete against Elizabethtown College (1-8). Both teams come off competing on the road and look to improve their losing streak.

Last Time Out: 
King's College wrestling faced Lycoming in their first conference match of the season. The Monarchs had a great showing posting four wins but ultimately fell to Lycoming 30-15. The Monarchs slip to 1-16 overall and 0-1 in the MAC while the Warriors advance 12-4 and 1-0 in conference bouts.

The Book on the Monarchs: 

  • In the last match-up with the Blue Jays, Elizabethtown took the victory 45-6 at home in Elizabethtown, Pa.
  • The Monarchs posted 15 points against Lycoming College last dual with wins from Dakota Quick, Tony Immediato, Matt Sparks and Nick Price.
  • Quick (7-2), Sparks (4-1) and Price (11-8) all won by decision while Immediato grabbed a forfeit from the Warriors.
  • Quick continues to lead in team points advancing to 106 after this weekend and Sparks lifts to 67.5 points.

 
The Book on the Blue Jays: 

  • Elizabethtown finished 37 out of 38 teams at the Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational with four wrestlers recording a victory.
  • Colton Rex (141) took a 9-4 decision to advance in the tournament, but his run would end in the next match where he lost by 7-1 decision. Rex leads the team with 21 wins.
  • Josh Paisley (141) was the only Blue Jay wrestler in action this weekend to win his first match. He collected a 5-3 decision to advance before being pinned.
  • Elijah Flasher (197) earned a 10-3 decision followed by a win by injury default. He was pinned at 6:55 in his next matchup. This was his only pin of the season.
  • Max Rhoden won by decision 5-2 in the 285 contests.

Up Next: The Monarchs return home to face Centenary University Tuesday, February 5, at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference match.
