ANGOLA, IN (January 5, 2019) – Defenseman Blake Robertson tallied three points on two goals and an assist to lead the host Trine University men's ice hockey team to a 5-0 victory over King's on Saturday afternoon in the Thunder Ice Arena.

The Thunder (6-8-1) used a three-goal second period to put the game out of reach from the Monarchs (1-15-0). Robertson recorded his first point of the game on Trine's first goal in the first period as Carmine Taffo tapped in a rebound off a shot by Robertson at 13:43. The sophomore then recorded his second goal of the weekend when he scored unassisted at 9:53 of the second period.

Trine struck again with five minutes left in the period as TJ Delaney knocked in a rebound off a shot by Chris Timm that was saved. Robertson scored his seventh goal of the year on another rebound off a shot by Jon Doyle with 2:41 remaining in the period. Alex Johanson wrapped up the scoring with his third goal of season off an assist by Doyle 1:33 into the third period.

King's struggled with penalties committing seven for 14 minutes but were a perfect six-for-six on the penalty kill. Trine committed four penalties for eight minutes and were a perfect three-for-three on the penalty kill.

The Monarchs will now have two weeks off before returning to United Collegiate Hockey Conference action with a home game against Elmira College to begin the second rotation. The Monarchs will host the Soaring Eagles at the Revolution Ice Centre on January 18 at 7 p.m. before traveling down I-81 the following night to take on Lebanon Valley College at HersheyPark Arena.
