Last Time Out: The Monarchs swim teams both left the pool with another victory under their belts against Immaculata University. Both teams clinch their third dual meet win in a row, the men finished 126-43 advancing them 5-2 overall while the women dominated 154-26 moving to 4-3 for the season so far.
The Book on the Monarchs:Â
- Both the men and women's team are currently 2-0 in conference meets.
- In the last time out Tom Montvydas secured the top spot of the men's meet earning two first place finishes and contributing 18 points.
- The women's Kailie Karensky also earned two first place finishes and 18 points finishing as the meets top women's swimmer.
- The men took all five top swims starting with Chris Soutter (5:00.21) in the 500-freestyle, Bryce Groshardt (48.44) in the 100-freestyle, King's Relay (1:32.92) in the 100-freestyle relay, Rhyce Hammaker (1:53.12) in the 200-freestyle and Dan Weekes (22.33) in the 50-freestyle.
- Also grabbing all top five swims were the women beginning with Kirsten Siwy (2:18.26) in the 200-individual medley, Abbi Strennen (26.85) in the 50-freestyle, Relay Team A (1:48.99) in the 200-freestyle relay, Claire Coe (5:38.61) in the 500-freestyle and Relay Team C (1:51.38) int the 200-freestyle relay.
The Book on the Falcons:Â
- Messiah's men's team is 2-1 in conference meets and 2-4 overall while the women are 3-0 in conference swims and 4-2 overall on the season.
- Last competing at the Washington & Lee Invitational, the Falcons men finished third of six teams while the women clinched second.
- Kurtis Platteel, Daniel Logan, and Tyler Wilkinson earned the highest finishes for a Falcon on the men's side with second-place honors in the 100 Back (55.94), 200 Free (1:45.20), and 200 Back (2:01.01), respectively.
- Kaylee Hollenbach earned fifth in the top five swimmers of the invitational, earning one first place finish and two third place.
- Alley Sell set a pair of program records in Breaststroke events. Her time of 1:06.23 in the 100 Breast was a new record by almost two seconds, before turning in a mark of 2:28.70 in the 200 Breast.
The Book on the Knights:Â
- Arcadia men are 1-1 in conference swim meets and 6-3 overall while the women are 2-0 in conference and 6-3 overall.
- Last competing against Wilkes University both teams emerged with a win. Men 183-79 and women 203-46.
- Michael Melissen finished first in three events, the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.11, the 200-yard butterfly with1:59.54 and the 200 yard IM finishing in 2:01.52.
- Rachel Samson was first in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 1:01.65. She also was first in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:11.47, and the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.92).
- The Knights are to swim at the Copa Coqui Invitational in Puerto Rico before the double dual against the Monarchs and Falcons.
King's travels down the road to Williamsport, PA for a dual against the Lycoming College Warriors. At 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, the action begins in another conference meet.
