Box Score KINGSTON, PA (October 20, 2019) -- Rain forced Sunday's scheduled match with Penn College inside, but King's would play well on the inside courts of Wyoming Valley Tennis Center in picking up a 9-0 win over the Wildcats to finish the 2019 fall campaign.
Due to limited space indoors, all matches were played as eight-game pro set matches, but that didn't bother the Monarchs who poured it on early and often. King's would pick up all three doubles points, as
Tyler Millan teamed with
Austin Mackey to earn an 8-4 win over Joseph Morrin and Tucker Phillippe-Johansson at No. 1 doubles.
The pairing of
Nick Harth and
Cameron Tuck would knock off Blake Whitmire and Zackary Burkhart at No. 2 doubles 8-4, while
Nick Holland and
Jason Homschek pushed past Tommy Cavanagh and Jesse Kight 8-2 at the No. 3 doubles spot.
In No. 1 singles, Millan and Phillippe-Johansson played very quick match but an intense one, with Millan outlasting his Penn College opponent 8-6. Mackey cruised past Whitmire at No. 2 singles 8-2, and Harth earned all eight games in an 8-0 win at No. 3 singles over Morrin.
The Monarchs would continue to rack up the wins, as
Cameron Tuck was an 8-2 winner over Kight at No. 4 singles, while Homschek tallied an 8-1 win at No. 5 singles over Burkhart. The No. 6 singles match was the closest outing of the day, but
Nick Holland was able to earn a 7-3 win in the tiebreak to take an 8-7 win to complete the 9-0 win for King's.
King's finishes the fall season 1-3 overall, and will resume its season in the spring for the majority of their season. Make sure to check back at kingscollegeathletics.com for schedule updates for match dates in the spring of 2020.
