WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 8, 2019) -- Freshman Jared Stephan had a night to remember Friday evening against Lebanon Valley College, as the newcomer broke a two-year old school record along with a pool mark in the 400 IM as the Monarchs topped LVC 133-53 in action from Scandlon Pool.

Stephan posted a 4:18.58 in the first time that the freshman has ever swam the event, eclipsing the 2017 time of 4:19.55 by Aaron Griffith. It was just one of nine wins on the night for the Monarchs, who cruised to the win thanks to solid swimming across the board.

After posting a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay, the Monarchs got a win in the 1000 freestyle thanks to a 11:08.66 from senior Christopher Boucher. Freshman Ryan Bixler registered a season-best time of 1:54.39 to earn a win in the 200 freestyle, while Andrew Johnson also had a great swim to take third with a 2:06.93 and a season-low.

Sophomore Alex Schwartz logged a season-best in the 50 free with a 24.10 for second place, and Anthony Macko was third with a 24.20. Along with Stephan's record swim in the 400 IM, fellow freshman Erik Aguero logged a 4:44.70. Sophomore Thomas Montvydas had a season-best swim in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.02, and fellow sophomore Joel Williams captured second place with a 58.65.

The 100 freestyle saw three personal bests for the Monarchs, as Schwartz tallied a time of 53.24 for second place. Sophomore Matthew Lowry was third with a personal-best time of 55.90, and Kevin Clarke was fourth with a 56.35. Stephan was first in the 100 backstroke with a 59.46, and Aguero recorded a season-best of 1:03.02. Boucher earned his second win of the night in the 500 freestyle, chalking up 5:20.61 for a season-best.

King's would go 1-2-3 in the 100 breaststroke, as Kris Boxter finished with a season-low time of 1:03.31 for the victory. Lowry was right behind him in second place with a time of 1:09.05, and Clarke was third after touching the wall with a 1:11.20. The most exciting finish of the evening came in the last race of the night, as King's "A" relay of Williams, Schwartz, Montvydas and Bixler barely out-touched Lebanon Valley at the wall for a win with a time of 1:36.50.

The Monarchs (2-2) will battle Stevenson University Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Scandlon Pool.
