WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 9, 2019) -- The King's College men's swimming made a splash as they rolled to a 132-44 victory over the visiting Stevenson University in Scandlon Pool Saturday afternoon. Freshman
Jared Stephan capped off a strong weekend breaking his second record in as many days as he broke the pool record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.88. The Monarchs improve to 3-2 on the season, including their second straight, with the win today.
Stephan also performed well as he won the 200 IM, swimming a 2:02.22, as well as leading the 200 freestyle relay to a first-place finish with a 1:34.81. Sophomore
Kris Boxter also had a great outing, as he placed second in the 200 freestyle with a 2:00.84 ad first in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:21.16.
The Monarchs started the meet with the top finishes in the 400 medley relay for 15 points. They then swept the 200 freestyle as Chris Boucher, Boxter, and
Kevin Clarke went 1-2-3 in the event. The sophomore trio of
Joel Williams, Tom Montvydas, and
Alex Schwartz took the top three spots in the 100 freestyle. Also sweeping the 200 breaststroke were Boxter,
Matt Lowry, and Clarke. They finished the day posting a 1:34.81 in the 200 freestyle relay.
This week, the Monarchs will take a break before heading to Arcadia University on Saturday, November 16 to face the Knights at 1:00 p.m.
