Women’s Ice Hockey Falls To Lebanon Valley At Keystone Holiday Classic

READING, PA (December 6, 2019) --- The King's College women's ice hockey team played excellent defense for the third consecutive game but were unable to get the puck past reigning United Collegiate Hockey Conference Co-Goaltender of the Year Jill Moffatt in a 2-0 loss to Lebanon Valley College on the first night of the Keystone Holiday Classic in Reading.

The Flying Dutchmen (2-7-1) earned the Middle Atlantic Conference victory over the Monarchs (0-6-1) with goals in the first and second periods. LVC got on the board 1:28 into the game as Emma Simpson scored her third goal of the year off an assist by Madalyn Nelson. King's outshot the Dutchmen 11-9 in the opening 20 minutes but were unable to find the back of the net against Moffatt.

LVC controlled much of play during the second period outshooting KC 16-2 in the period. Emma Zeveney stopped 15 of the shots with Morgan Martin scoring a power play goal at 8:17 of the period to increase the lead to 2-0. Lebanon Valley also outshot the Monarchs 10-9 in the third period to finish with a 35-22 advantage for the game.

Josée Aitken led the Monarchs with four shots and 12 faceoff wins. Caitlin Redden recorded three shots while Kelly Tuffy, Ali Noeding, Kateri Heithaus, and Morgan Almon all had two shots apiece. Zeveney finished with 33 saves in goal.

Moffatt earned her first shutout of the year making 22 saves including half of them in the first period. Chloe Glass led LVC with seven shots while Olivia Cindrich took six.

King's was called for five penalties and were successful on four of their five penalty kills. Lebanon Valley killed off their three penalties.

King's will now face tournament host Alvernia University in the consolation game on Saturday at 1 pm. The Golden Wolves dropped a 5-2 decision to Neumann on Friday night in the other matchup.
