HERSHEY, PA (February 10, 2019) – The host Lebanon Valley College women's ice hockey team used a strong three-goal first period to defeat King's College 4-0 on Sunday afternoon from Hersheypark Arena in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) contest.
The Monarchs came out strong putting pressure on the LVC defense. King's used an early penalty on the Dutchmen to put their first two shots on net. Jill Moffatt was able to come up with the big saves in net for Lebanon Valley. Despite not scoring on the power play opportunity the Monarchs kept momentum by keeping the puck in their offensive zone.
The momentum started to shift towards the hosts as the Monarchs were called for two penalties four minutes apart from each other. After a successful kill of the first penalty LVC took the lead with a power play goal at 9:58. Emma Stillwaggon knocked in her first goal of the season after receiving a cross ice pass from the left side by Jade Julius.
Chloe Glass made it 2-0 at 14:21 with her seventh goal after outracing a Monarch defender for a breakaway goal off a long pass from the defensive end by Madison Humes. Madalyn Nelson increased the lead to three at 17:39 when she raced into the offensive zone following a pass from Darby Seymour and scored off a wrist shot from the right wing.
The Monarchs fought hard to cut into the lead during a strong second period where they outshot LVC 8-4, but Moffatt showed why she leads the nation in saves by stopping all of King's tries at net. Lebanon Valley added a late goal in the third period to set the final score as Humes knocked in a rebound with 1:27 left.
Erin King had a strong game for the Monarchs (1-21-1, 0-16-0 UCHC, 0-6-0 MAC) with a game-high seven shots and 11 faceoff wins.
Caitlin Redden took three shots while
Morgan Almon,
Meghan Mietlicki,

Kellie Munro won a game-high 12 faceoffs on 19 attempts.
Kiva Sierra Stoltz made 16 saves in net after replacing
Emma Zeveney in the first period. Zeveney faced seven shots and made three saves in 17:39 minutes of action.
Glass and Humes had a goal and an assist each to lead the Dutchmen (6-16-1, 3-15-0 UCHC, 2-4-0 MAC). Olivia Cindrich and Hume won 11 faceoffs each while Moffatt finished the game with 21 saves. LVC held a 24-21 shot advantage and scored on one of three power play opportunities while holding the Monarchs scoreless on three penalty kills.
The Monarchs will wrap up the season next weekend with another home-and-home series with Neumann University. King's will play their final home game of the year at Revolution Ice Centre on Friday evening at 7 p.m. against the Knights before traveling down to Aston for a 2 p.m. puck drop on Saturday afternoon.
