Monarch Wrestling Match Notes - University of Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 14, 2019) — King's College wrestling (1-19) will face University of Scranton (10-7) Saturday, February 16 as the match between the Monarchs and Keystone College that was set for Friday, February 15, has been cancelled.

Last Time Out:  The Monarchs wrestled the Wilkes University Colonels dropping 43-9 in their last  conference bout of the season. Dakota Quick and Nick Palazzolo earned the two victories for King's, Quick produced a 5-0 decision at 125 and Palazzolo hit his second pin of the season at 1:40 in the 165 class.

The Book on the Monarchs: 
  • Since 2009, King's has a 9-2 record against the Royals.
  • Last season, King's went 1-1 at the Cross-County Challenge beating Keystone 39-12 but falling to Scranton 39-6.
  • Quick pulled out one of two wins last match up between the Monarchs and the Royals. The junior defeated Jake Thomson in a 10-4 decision.
  • Quick is now 25-11 with the best record on the team this season with Matt Sparks at 25-13 for second and freshman Kade Kravits rounding out the top three with 8-14.
The Book on the Royals: 
  • Scranton last saw King's at the Ned McGinley Invitational where they placed 10 out of 16 teams with 51 total points.
  • The Royals are on a three-match win streak, most recently competing at Lackawanna College winning 33-12.
  • Senior Dan D'Agostini became just the third wrestler in University of Scranton history with at least 100 career wins and is ranked 16th in the 197-weight class for all of NCAA DIII.
  • Keegan Connelly lifted his record to 30-9 on the year, giving him the eighth-most wins in a season in school history.  He is 77-35 for his career, ranking fifth in career wins and tied for 17th with 14 career pins.
  • Kevin Merle improved to 21-12 on the year with 10 pins, tied for the 11th most falls in a season.  He also has 29 pins in his career, tied for second-most all-time and just three behind Tim Moser, who posted 32 pins for Scranton from 1985-89.
