WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 8, 2019) — The Monarchs (1-18, 0-1) face Wilkes University (18-3) on their home turf this upcoming Sunday at noon in a Middle Atlantic Conference dual. King's College will be honoring Nick Price, Tony Immediato and Matt Sparks for senior day.

Last Time Out:  King's College wrestling dropped in a non-conference match-up against Centenary University 46-9. It was junior Dakota Quick and senior Sparks who collected the two wins of the night.

The Book on the Monarchs: 
  • Last season, King's fell to Wilkes 44-6 at Marts Center in a MAC Freedom dual.
  • King's last saw Wilkes this season at the Ned McGinley Invitational where the Colonels placed fifth out of 12 teams and King's 14th.
  • At the Invitational, Quick pinned Wilkes' Gudlah in 29 seconds making it his fastest pin fall of the season before going on to place third in the 125-weight class.
  • In their most recent match versus Centenary, Quick and Sparks notched the two victories for King's with a pin and a 9-3 decision.
The Book on the Colonels: 
  •  Wilkes is currently on an eight-match win streak after defeating Penn College 36-12 while celebrating senior night.
  • Thomas Stokes went back-to-back with major decisions 8-0 and 15-4 respectively at 133 and 141.
  • Kyle Medrow took a 16-0 technical fall in 5:12 at 149 while John Ritter followed with a pin in 3:54 at 157.
  • Nicholas Racanelli posted the second Wilkes' technical fall winning 19-3 and Ashton Gyenizs was the final winner on the night pinning his opponent in 4:40 at 174.
  • The Colonels will face No. 6 Ithaca College before facing the Monarchs.
     
Up Next: King's will compete in the Cross-County Challenge February 15 and 16 where they will battle Keystone College that Friday at 7:00 p.m. in La Plume, PA followed by University of Scranton the on the 16th at 12:00 p.m. at Marts Center.
