Jamie Lukas tallied his team-leading eight goal of the season in his final game at the Revolution Ice Centre as the King's College men's ice hockey team fell to visiting Neumann University 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Lukas deflected in a shot by
Luciano Bucci from the right wing with 4:31 left in the third period for his 21st career point and 12th career goal. Bucci recorded his second point of the weekend and 15th of the season after scoring on a breakaway on Friday night against Manhattanville.
Tyler O'Mara had the secondary assist on the play for his third of the season.
The Knights, who entered the matchup needing a win to stay alive in a tight race for the final two spots in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) tournament, took advantage of King's first two penalties with power play goals. Neumann (6-14-4, 5-8-4 UCHC) then rattled off two goals in a 15 second span and another goal with 2:15 left in the first period to take a 5-0 lead into the first intermission. Their sixth and final goal came in the second period at the 10:18 mark.
Neumann held a 38-21 shot advantage in the game as
Brandon Daigle made 32 saves in goal for the Monarchs (1-22-0, 1-15-0 UCHC). King's held a 38-35 advantage in the faceoff circle as O'Mara won a team-high 14 and Bucci added 11 wins.
Thomas Mansbridge led the Knights with two goals on three shots. Eric Madison recorded three assists while Chris Ordoobadi had a goal and an assist. Kyle Pantelone made 20 saves in goal to pick up his first career win.
King's will close out their second season next weekend with road games at UCHC-leader Utica on Friday night and at Nazareth on Saturday afternoon.
