Monarch Men's Tennis Match Notes - Lebanon Valley College and Clarks Summit University

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 23, 2019) – King's College Monarchs open their spring season home at Kirby Park Sunday, March 24, at noon against Lebanon Valley College. The Monarchs then brace for another home match against Clarks Summit University the next day, March 25, at 3:30 p.m.

Last Time Out: The men's tennis team competed in Florida this past spring break. King's left with a 1-4 record. Their last match featured a 5-4 comeback win over Wentworth Institute of Technology that was facilitated by freshman Nick Holland. Holland defeated Mun Chet in No. 5 singles in three sets winning 6-3, 6-4 and 10-8.
 
 
The Book on The Monarchs (3-5, 0-0 MAC Freedom):
  • King's was selected to finish third in the MAC Freedom Preseason Coaches' Poll
  • The team is currently sixth in the MAC Freedom standings with a .286-win percentage.
  • Over break, sophomore Austin Mackey won his first match as a No. 1 single against Trine University going 6-3, 7-5 and 10-8.
  • Nick Harth also recorded a win at No. 3 singles versus Regis College with set scores of 6-1, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8),
  • Mackey and Cameron Tuck won first flight doubles facing WIT while Harth and Jason Homschek took a No. 2 doubles victory.
The Book on The Dutchmen (3-4, 0-0 MAC Commonwealth):
  • Lebanon Valley is second in the Commonwealth with a win streak of two and a percentage of .429.
  • LVC was selected to finish third in the MAC Commonwealth Preseason Poll.
  • The Dutchmen split 2-2 on their spring break trip to South Carolina and picked up another victory in their home opener against Penn State Harrisburg 7-2.
  • Blake Martin and Elliott Kleckner's victory in No. 2 doubles at 8-3. Luke Senft and Ben Hinkley followed it up with a dominant 8-1 win in No. 3 doubles.
  • LVC won five out of six of their singles matches in two sets against Penn State Harrisburg.
 
The Book on The Defenders (0-0, 0-0 CSAC):
  • This is the first match of the season for Clarks Summit, the Defenders ended the fa;; 8-3 overall with a 6-1 conference record.
  • The Defenders were picked first in the CSAC Preseason Poll.
  • The last time Clarks Summit and King's met was in 2017 at Kirby Park where the Defenders would fall 9-0.
