Skok Grabs her First Home Run as King's Wins their First Conference Match up

MADISON, NJ (March 30, 2019) -- The Monarchs earned their first conference win today in a doubleheader facing FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ. King's College ultimately split 1-1 in play moving them to 8-10 overall and 1-5 in the MAC Freedom.

Game 1: King's 4, FDU-Florham 1
The Devils were first to score in game one with a run late in the bottom of the first, but King's would tie things up soon after. Sophomore Gabby Leary singled to right center putting her on base while and error on the center fielder would allow her to grab second.

As freshman Lindsey Leppo walked, Leary took third on a wild pitch. Junior Mackenzie Yori was next up for the Monarchs and was able to advance each runner and make it on first by an error on the third baseman.

The score would remain at a stalemate all the way through to the fifth inning as Junior Taylor Norris singled and was brought around the bases by freshman Kristi Ann Skok as she hit her first home run of her collegiate career.

Continuing the momentum, Leary got on base for what would be her third time of the game as junior Kris Kocher stepped in the box. Kocher rattled off a double and moved to third on the throw as the Devils would attempt to tag Leary at home but would come up unsuccessful as she scored King's final run of the game.

Kocher was in the circle for King's as her record is now 3-5 with this being her seventh complete game. The junior allowed four hits and one run with four strikeouts in her 28 batters faced.

Game 2: King's 1, FDU-Florham
Both teams were heavy on defense with only one hit and zero runs through three, straight innings. At the top of the fourth, the Monarchs were able to grab their only run of game two.

Skok would get on base and get sent home by Leary's single to right field for her second run of the day and tenth of the season.

King's held FDU-Florham until the seventh inning as the Devils snuck in two unearned runs to take the second game.

Sophomore Nicole Kirse dropped to a 2-6 record after pitching to 25 batters allowing only five hits and two runs and striking out three batters.
