McKee Records 100th Career Hit At Misericordia

DALLAS, PA (April 17, 2019) – Senior Sean McKee recorded the 100th hit of his career in the third inning as the King's College baseball team fell to host Misericordia University 15-1 on Wednesday afternoon from Tambur Field in Dallas.

The Cougars (23-9, 12-4 MAC Freedom) used a big first inning to take the first of three Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom games from the Monarchs (13-15, 9-7 MAC Freedom). Misericordia scored 11 runs on eight hits in the first frame sending 16 batters to the plate.

Christian Pack had KC's first hit of the game in the first inning on a single to right for his 182nd of his career. McKee drove the first pitch he saw into left field to leadoff the third inning for his milestone hit.

Isaac Snyder kept the Monarchs bats quiet allowing just two hits in six innings. The freshman walked three and hit two batters with one strike out to improve to 2-1 on the season. The Monarchs hit the ball hard against the righty, but the Cougar defense played extremely well. The outfielders were able to make a few nice grabs on balls hit into the gaps and the infielder turned three double plays to stop a couple of Monarch rallies.

Misericordia added a run in the fourth before King's got on the board in seventh. Reynolds led off the inning with a hard liner to right center that the MU center field made a great play on for an out. Mike Armstrong hit an infield single to the hole at short and McKee singled to left. Paul Helman walked to load the bases with one out and then Matt Dobeck knocked in a run when he beat out a ball up the middle that the shortstop fielded, touched second, and threw to first. The Cougars responded with a three-run inning in the bottom of the inning.

McKee led the Monarchs with two hits in three at-bats. Pack, Kyle Friebolin, and Armstrong had a hit each. Alex Bruneio pitched excellent in relief going 5.2 innings allowing four runs on three hits. Brandon Moffitt pitched got the final five outs for the Monarchs and allowed just one unearned run on two hits.

King's will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon when they will host the Cougars for a doubleheader at Lipo Field. Game one first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. with game two to start about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
