WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 22, 2019) – King's College senior baseball standout Dan Hartson earned his second Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) weekly award of the season on Monday when he was named the Pitcher of the Week by the conference office.

Hartson pitched a complete game with just 81 pitches in a 5-1 victory over first-place Misericordia last Thursday shutting down a Cougar offense that had scored 22 runs in the first two games of the series. Hartson allowed just one run on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts. He held the MU offense off the scoreboard until the sixth inning when they were able to manufacture a run on a hit-by-pitch, double and then a sac fly. The senior only allowed two Cougars to get to third base all game while forcing 10 groundouts including two double plays to end the fourth and fifth innings. Fittingly, he ended the game with a groundball out back to the mound. Misericordia batted .322 in the series but struggled against Hartson batting just .250. Hartson also hurt the Cougars with his bat in the game going 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI. He batted .444 in the series playing the first two games in right field.

The senior has now earned Player of the Week honors and Pitcher of the Week honors in the same season after being named the Player of the Week just three weeks ago.

The Monarchs will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with their final non-conference game of the season at Lipo Field taking on the Pacers on Marywood University at 4 pm.
