WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 25, 2019) – King's split a doubleheader against Lycoming College as the first game went into an extra inning and game two ended early in five innings as the Monarchs racked up eight runs ahead of the Warriors. The team improves to 16-17 for the season.

Game One: King's 3, Lycoming 5
A single by
Kristi Ann Skok brought in the opening run for King's in the first inning ran by
Mackenzie Yori for what would be her first of the day.

In the bottom of the second the Monarchs were able to bring in two more scores, one by freshmen
Marisa Mauro who made it on base with a double to right center, she was drawn in by
Lindsey Leppo as the fellow freshman hit a triple placing her in scoring position. Yori would make it to first in the next at bat pushing Leppo home.

The Warriors tied the game 3-3 in the fourth inning and the score would reach a stalemate sending the teams to an eighth inning. Lycoming took two more runs in the extra inning and the Monarchs wouldn't be able to get back in the game.

Kris Kocher moves to a 6-8 record after pitching another complete game striking out four of her 34 batters and allowing ten hits.

Game Two: King's 8, Lycoming 0
King's was back with a vengeance as they would collect eight runs on 11 hits throughout and holding Lycoming to none. The Monarchs scored six runs in a row in the second inning.

Freshman pitcher
Gianna Marsico advances to 5-1 with her second shutout of her rookie season. Marsico allowed just three hits in her 20 batters.

The score remained 0-0 through the first inning until Skok was first to bat in the second inning. As the freshman got on base, she would be followed by
Gabby Leary. With two outs, Marsico stepped into the box and hit one to centerfield sending Skok to home.

Leppo would single to right field advancing all runners and bringing in another run by Leary. Yori followed up with a double to the left and brought home Marsico for the third run in a row.

In another huge play for King's,
Mindina Lieback reeled in another two runs by Leppo and Yori with her double to right center with two outs. Lieback would score the sixth run in a row after a single to center by
Taylor Norris before the Warriors made the third out.

King's kept their lead holding the Warriors until the end of the game and Lycoming would make a change in the circle in hopes of holding the Monarchs from an eight-run lead.

A sacrifice fly by Leary put the previously walked
Gabriella Medina on third and sent Norris to home plate. With two outs, Medina stole home on a passed ball and solidified the victory for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs return Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on Betzler Field in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. for Senior Day and a doubleheader iin their last conference game versus Eastern University.
