DeCamillo Nets Hat Trick As Monarchs Shutout Marywood 5-0

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 11, 2019) --- Aidan DeCamillo scored a career high three goals to lead the King's College men's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Marywood University on Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium in Wilkes-Barre.

The three goals was the first for a Monarch player since Liam McLoughlin tallied hat tricks in back-to-back games against Juniata and Wells on September 9 and Setpemebr 14, 2017.

The teams were getting set to kick off before lightning and a rain storm passed through the area delaying the start of the match a little over two hours. Once the teams retook the field at 9:15 pm, 2:15 after the scheduled kickoff time, the Monarchs wasted little time taking the lead as Alastair Dinnan tapped the ball inside the right post right at the net following a high arching pass from Fabio Massa just 5:26 into the match.

The Monarchs extended their lead in the 25th minute with DeCamillo's first goal as he one timed a long throw in from Aziz Atiyeh. A few minutes later DeCamillo scored again when Michael Scardelletti knocked a loose ball in the middle of the box towards DeCamillo who struck it past the keeper. Not even a minute later Alex Showalter made it 4-0 as Atiyeh found him streaking up the middle of the field and with just the keeper to beat Showalter blasted a shot from just inside the box to the upper right. DeCamillo's final tally came right at the 66-minute mark as his finished a nice pass from Kyle Shalvey.

King's held a dominating 19-4 shot advantage including 8-1 on goal while earning eight corner kicks to defending just two. Pat Hughes and Joey Lindsay split time in net for a combined shutout. Hughes played the first half and didn't face a shot while Lindsay saw his first collegiate action in the second half and made one save while facing four total shots.

King's will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to New Paltz, NY to face SUNY New Paltz at 1 pm on the South Turf Field.
