WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 20, 2019) -- As the Monarch men's rugby team approaches their first tournament this weekend at nationally 5th ranked Susquehanna University on Sunday, Coach Dr. Jan Kretzschmar and the team's three captains Joey Ferrone, Josh Williams, and Ian Prator have been focused on getting the team prepared for their upcoming outing.

This week's practice has been focused on tackling, passing, rucking, and lots of communication on both offense and defense. So far, the team's chemistry has been steadily improving with some exciting combinations in the works. Keep and eye out on top scorers Noah Cusatis and Joshua Williams featuring on the same wing, while Nicholas Ionatta and Skyler Smith have been refining their attacking creativity over the last year on the other wing.

This weeks starting lineup is also featuring two freshmen who have been making great progress, with Jahdir White and Nicholas Maffetone earning first team positions. Also featured this weekend is the Monarch rugby black team featuring up-and-coming stars of the team, as well as some experienced returners. Expect the team to make it to the final of this tournament, as the Monarchs look to defend their conference title, having won it the previous three years.
