SOUTH ABINGTON, PA (September 4, 2019) -- In their first road match of the season, the King's College women's volleyball team defeated host Clarks Summitt University, 3-0, to record the victory. Also in the win, sophomore setter
Wiatt Hoffmann surpassed her 1,000th career assist for the Monarchs.
The first two sets were controlled by the Monarchs en route to a 25-16 win in set one and a 25-10 win in set two. In the final set, the Defenders battled before the Monarchs prevailed and posted the set final, 25-20.
Hoffmann distributed 28 assists in the match, including the 1,000th of her career, to lead the offense. Hoffmann and fellow sophomore
Taylor Mueller also recorded four service aces each. Sophomores
Becca Goldberg led the offense with 11 kills, hitting 0.364 for 12 total points, and sophomore
Grace Frati added to her impressive opening weekend with 10 kills and 12 points. For the defense, Mueller tallied 14 digs and sophomores
Karissa Hartzell and Frati added six each. On the net, sophomore
Cleo Schultz totaled four blocks and Goldberg added 2 for the match.
As a team, the Monarchs posted a 0.159 hitting percentage compared to the Defenders -0.013 hitting percentage. The Monarchs also out-scored the Defenders in digs (36-33), service aces (11-3), and kills (32-20).
The Monarchs continue their non-conference road schedule as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday, September 7 to compete in a tri-match against the host Griffins at 11:00 a.m. and the visiting Penn State Brandywine at 1:00 p.m.
