WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 25, 2020) -- Sophomore

Rebecca Prociak led the King's College women's basketball team Saturday afternoon, scoring 21 and 20 points, respectively, as they defeated the visiting Aggies of Delaware Valley University, 70-50, in McGrane Gymnasium. The Monarchs improve to 12-5 overall, 6-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play as they secure the top spot in the conference standings with just one game remaining in the first half of the conference schedule.
King's opened the game on a 13-2 run before Delaware Valley answered with six straight to pull within three before a three by Rajza gave the Monarchs a 16-10 lead after one quarter of play. The hosts were able to build a 12-point lead with 4:18 to go in the half before the two teams traded baskets to close out the half with King's leading, 31-22.
Six unanswered points to start the second half saw the Monarch lead increase to 15, 37-22, as they continued to build their lead and outscore the Aggies, 22-12, in the third and hold a 19-point advantage, 53-34. A jumper by Rajza off her own steal to give King's their largest lead of the game, 60-37, with 8:56 to go before posting the 20-point final off a three by junior
Kristen Coleman.
Rajza totaled the 21 points adding six rebound and five steals in the win. Prociak followed her 20 points with six rebounds. Senior
Sara Wolbert and freshman
Emily Morano posted eight points each, as Wolbert's was a season-high and Morano's came in her first career start. The Monarchs were balanced rebounding the ball, as Wolbert and sophomore
Emily Kriston also added six boards a piece. Morano and Kriston also added team-high four assists each.
The Aggies (1-16, 0-6 MAC Freedom) were led by Lauren Moretti with 13 points, five assists, and five steals. Emiliy Kutskel was the other Aggie in double figures with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
As a team, the Monarchs overcame a tough shooting night from beyond the arc (15.4 percent) to shoot 37.3 percent (22-59) from the field while dishing out 14 assists on 25 made field goals. King's also recorded 38 boards, out-rebounding the
Aggies in the win. The Monarch defense was also stifling today as they forced 22 Delaware Valley turnovers to total 14 steals. Inside the box score, King's held the advantage in points from turnovers (25-10), points in the paint (36-32), and fast break points (10-4).
King's will start their two-game road stretch as they head up the mountain to Misericordia University on Wednesday for an 8:00 p.m. start time before traveling to DeSales University on Saturday.
