WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 26, 2020) -- The King's College wrestling team finished a busy week on the mats Sunday, but struggled to get much going against Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) rival Lycoming College in dropping a 46-6 meet against the Warriors in action from McGrane Gymnasium. 

The Monarchs (1-8) did have a pair of victors on Sunday though, as freshman Robert Zelinski and sophomore Kade Kravits each collected decision wins for King's. The most exciting match of the day came at 141, as Zelinski fell behind early in the first period but trimmed the lead to 2-1 thanks to an escape just before the end of the opening stanza. Ethan Landis from Lycoming, who knocked off Zelinski last weekend at the MAC Championships 10-2, would pick up another point in the second period to make it 3-1 after an escape. In the third, Zelinski started down and got out for an escape point 30 seconds in to the period, then taking advantage of a Landis missed attack to get behind for a takedown and a 4-3 lead. On the same takedown, Zelinski earned four back points on a nearfall to go ahead 8-3 before settling for an 8-4 win. 

At 165, Kravits showed strong patience and awareness throughout his match, while also fending off three separate attempts in the second period by Hunter O'Connor for back points to keep it scoreless. Seconds later, Kravits would escape after starting down in the second and picked up two points on a tripping takedown to go ahead 3-0. In the third period, both wrestlers started neutral and Kravits added up another takedown a minute into the period to book an eventual 6-0 victory thanks to a point of riding time. 

King's was shorthanded due to some injuries on Sunday, having to surrender three weight classes, while the Warriors were able to chalk up a pair of technical falls at 133 and 157. Lycoming also earned victories by fall at 149, 184 and 197 to clinch the victory. 

The Monarchs are back on the road February 4 at Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ for a dual meet with the Cyclones at 7 p.m. at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center.
