Stoltz Makes Season High 62 Saves At Post

SHELTON, CT (January 7, 2020) --- Kiva Sierra Stoltz made a season high 62 saves as the King's College women's hockey team fell by a score of 5-1 to Division II Post University in their first game in a month on Tuesday afternoon in Shelton, CT.

The junior goaltender stopped the first 25 shots from the Eagles in the first period before Catherine Proulx scored her seventh goal of the season with 11 seconds remaining to give the Eagles (7-14-0) the lead. Proulx increased the lead 1:50 into the second period with her second goal of the game.

Josée Aitken cut into the lead with King's first goal of 2020 with an unassisted tally at 11:57. The goal was the third of the season for the junior and 12th of her career. It was also her program leading 20th point of her career.

The Eagles responded with a pair of goals by Paige Dundas to take a 4-1 lead. Mia Landry closed out the scoring with her second goal of the season for Post. Dundas' first goal and the goal by Landry were both power play goals.

The Monarchs (1-7-1) were called for six penalties in the game and were successful on four of their six penalty kills. Stoltz stopped 21 shots in the second period and 16 in the third while facing 67 shots.

King's will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they travel up to Oswego, NY to take on SUNY Oswego in another non-conference battle from the Marano Campus Center Arean. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 pm.
