CENTER VALLEY, PA (February 1, 2020) -- Sophomore
Jake Pawliczak recorded his fourth double-double of the season, but the King's College men's basketball team came up short, falling to the DeSales University Bulldogs, 84-60, Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action.
The second game of the double header started out with a back-and-forth effort as neither team led by more than three points. A Bulldogs three and back-to-back baskets from Timmy Edwards saw the Monarchs trailing by six with 14:20 left in the half. The DeSales lead reached 10, 23-13, with 10:42 to play in the opening half before senior
Andrew Hudak made a layup. On the defensive end, Pawliczak blocked a post move and sophomore
Patrick Galvin connected for a three to cap off the play as King's trailed by five and forced a Bulldogs timeout with 8:16 left. The team's traded baskets and saw DeSales leading by seven with 5:24 to go before the game suffered a scoring drought over the next 3:10 of action that saw sophomore JJ Glisnky hit a pair of free throws to close the gap as King's trailed by five, 29-24. DeSales used an 8-3 run to close the half leading 37-27 into the break.
The Bulldogs opened the second half on a 7-2 run and continued to roll as they outscored the Monarchs, 47-33, in the second half to hand King's their second-straight MAC Freedom loss.
Pawliczak recorded 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting, with 11 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. Sophomore

Andrew Hudak were the other top-scorers for the Monarchs, each with eight points, as Hudak added a team-high three assists.
Edwards had a monster game for the Bulldogs (13-6, 6-2 MAC Freedom), totaling 31 points and 16 rebounds to lead four in double figures. Mike Bealer added 14 points, Kweku Dawson-Amoah added 13, and Jordan Holmqvist added 11 off the bench. In addition, Ben Pratt dished out nine assists for the Bulldogs.
The Monarchs (10-9, 3-5 MAC Freedom) shot 37.7 percent (23-61) for the game, dishing out 16 assists on their 23 field goals. They also added 28 rebounds and five steals in the loss.
King's returns home after a week away to host Eastern University on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in McGrane Gymnasium. They will then host FDU-Florham on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. start time.
