Women's Swimming Rolls By Wilkes Saturday, 134-60

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 1, 2020) -- The King's College women's swimming squad won eight of the 11 events contested Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 134-60 win over local rival Wilkes University from the Wyoming Valley CYC. 

The King's (7-3) women started the afternoon by going 1-2 in the 200 medley relay, as Liz Savidge, Amina Zaidi, Rachel Woomer and Alexis Majka swam a 1:57.33 for the win. The "B" relay of Noelle Pedersen, Abbi Strennan, Kaelyn Gardner and Madison Modugno took second with a 2:00.28. 

In the 200 freestyle, Woomer finished with a 2:05.08 for a victory while fellow freshman Sarah Fleisher posted a 2:13.05 to take second. The Monarchs dominated the 50 free with five of the top six spots accounted for by King's, as sophomore Claire Coe finished with a 26.83 for the win. 

Also in the 50 free, Modugno was second with a 27.03, while Zaidi and Strennen were third and fourth with times of 27.76 and 27.88, respectively. Majka would post her first win of the afternoon individually in the 200 IM, earning a five-second win with a 2:24.52 while classmate Emilia Serafin posted a 2:29.51 for second place. 

Woomer would earn the win in the 100 butterfly with a 1:00.64, but she as she was exhibitioning did not get credit for the win. Gardner earned the the nine points in the 100 fly with a 1:03.31, while Savidge posted the third-best time of the day with a 1:04.80. 

King's would once again go 1-2-3 in the 100 freestyle, led by Coe and her 57.12 for the victory. Pedersen was second with a 1:00.04, and Modugno came in third place with a 1:00.07. In the 100 backstroke, Corinne Smith swam a solid race and earned a victory with a 1:08.99. 

In the 200 freestyle relay, Coe, Savidge, Karensky and Majka posted a three-second victory with a time of 1:47.90. With the victory, King's posted its third season with seven dual meet wins since 2015. 

King's will have some time off before traveling to the 2020 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships on Thursday, February 13 at 10 a.m. in York, PA at the Graham Aquatic Center.
