ASTON, PA (February 15, 2020) --- The host Neumann University men's ice hockey team scored three power play goals including two in the first period to defeat King's College 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest from the IceWorks Skating Complex in Aston.
The Knights (9-15-0, 8-9-0 UCHC) clinched a berth in the UCHC postseason tournament with the win and Manhattanville's loss to Wilkes. King's (2-20-1, 1-14-1), who are finishing up the season shorthanded due to a buildup of injuries and illness, was hurt by nine penalties in the game leading to eight penalty kills.
Neumann opened up the scoring first with a goal 11:52 into the opening stanza. King's fired right back a couple minutes later as
Jerry Scatena scored his second goal of the season off an assist by
Alex Bastone. The assist was Bastone's second of the year. Right after the goal, however, KC as called for their first penalty of the game and the Knights capitalized 19 seconds into the power play to take a 2-1 lead on a goal by Tommy Dougherty. Dougherty then increased the lead with 1:51 to go in the period with his second power play goal of the game.
Dougherty completed his hat trick with an even strength goal 9:59 into the second period to give Neumann a 4-1 lead. The Knights closed out the period with their third power play goal of the game right before time expired. Eric Madison increased the lead to 6-1 with his third goal of the season 12:30 into the third period.

Rob Sheehan, and
Michael DiSchiavi all took three shots for the Monarchs who finished with 21 in the game.
Eric Daniel made 39 saves in net including 16 in the second period.
Cameron Anklewich won a team high 10 faceoffs on 20 attempts.
The Monarchs will close out the season next weekend with a road trip to face fourth-ranked Utica College on Friday before finishing up at Nazareth on Saturday.
