Clancey Tallies 10th Career Point Against William Smith Friday

PITTSTON, PA (February 7, 2020) --- Junior Raeann Clancey recorded the 10th point of her career on Friday evening as the King's College women's ice hockey team dropped a 11-1 decision to visiting William Smith College from the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston.

The Herons (14-7-0, 10-2-0 UCHC) came into the game needing a victory against the Monarchs (2-16-1, 1-11-0 UCHC) to keep pace with Elmira and Nazareth among the top teams in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) North Division. WSC didn't wait look to score their first goal of the game as Mia LaPlante found the back of the net 1:12 into the game. Alisa Canney scored five minutes later to give the visitors a 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.

The Herons would open the second period with three straight goals to extend their lead to 5-0 before King's would score the only power play goal of the game with 5:27 to go in the period. Clancey lit the lamp for her fifth goal of the season and sixth of her career. The point also gave her 10 for her career. Josée Aitken and Meghan Mietlicki recorded assists on the goal. Aitken recorded her third assist of the season and 10th of her career. Mietlicki recorded her five assist of the year and ninth of her career.

William Smith would respond with two more goals in the final minute of the second period and then finished the game with four third period goals to set the final score. Jules Kennedy and Canney each record hat tricks for the Herons while Julia Mings had two goals and two assists. Kennedy also added two assists to lead the squad with five points on the night. Alison Weiss recorded three assists for WSC. Olivia Williams made 12 saves in goal to pick up her 10th victory of the year.

The Monarchs were outshot 63-13 in the game with Kiva Sierra Stoltz making 52 saves. Caitlin Redden took a team high six shots while Ali Noeding took three. Tessa Schaefer-Flynn won a game high 17 faceoffs on 29 attempts while Aitken won 13 on 32 attempts. The Monarchs blocked six shots with Clancey leading the team with three.

The Monarchs will face another tough test tomorrow afternoon as they host fourth-ranked Elmira College at 3 pm from Revolution Ice Centre. The Soaring Eagles were scheduled to play Wilkes on Friday evening but their game got postponed.
