DOYLESTOWN, PA (October 16, 2021) --- The King's College men's soccer team scored three second half goals to take down Delaware Valley University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play on Saturday evening.
The Monarchs (6-4-1) looked dangerous in the first half, but were unable to get on the board during the first 45 minutes of play. At the break KC held a 7-0 shot advantage over the Aggies.
The second half saw more of the same from King's, as they continued to apply pressure to the DVU defense.
Kyle Shalvey finally broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when he received a ball off of a combination play and struck his shot perfectly into the bottom corner. The goal marked Shalvey's third of the season.
Alex Showalter joined in on the action in the 71st minute when he scored his first goal of the season to give the Monarchs a 2-0 lead.
Dylan Domchek picked up the assist for King's, his second of the season. Showalter tallied another score just six minutes later to secure his brace and provide a comfort goal for his side.
Shalvey earned the game-winner, while also leading the squad with 3 shots, along with Showalter.
Cole Catherman only had to make one save in net for KC thanks to some outstanding play from the Monarch back line once again.
The Monarch Men return to action on Tuesday in a battle with local rivals Wilkes University. Kickoff is set for 7 pm at Bruggeworth Field in Edwardsville, PA.
