Women's Swimming Edged by Marywood Saturday

SCRANTON, PA (October 16, 2021) --- Junior Corinne Smith picked up two victories on Saturday afternoon, but the host Pacers came out on top 93-91 over the Monarchs in action from Scranton, PA.

Smith finished first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.66. She was followed shortly in second place behind by Madison Modugno at 27.76. 

First-year Monarch Maddison Quick made an impact in the 200 freestyle by earning second booking a 2:10.79.

Sophomore Jamie Navarro placed second in the 200 IM at 2:33.15 and right behind her was Emilia Serafin at 2:35.19. Katelyn Duffy swam a 1:14.22 in the 100 butterfly to finish third.

Quick continued her strong debut for KC in the 100 freestyle where she won with a 58.77, almost five seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Stephanie Tabaka took third in the event with a 1:04.61, while Veronica McClelland placed fourth at 1:10.64. 

Smith, Navarro, and Serafin finished 2-3-4 respectively in the 100 backstroke. Kiera Booth was second in the 500 freestyle recording a 6:19.48.

Rachel Woomer continued her dominance in the water for the Monarchs with a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke at 1:15.45.

The team of Smith, Tabaka, Booth, and Modugno took home first in the 200 freestyle relay, but ultimately came up short overall to the Pacers.

KC will look to bounce back next Friday, October 22 at Scranton at 6:00 pm before hosting Cabrini the following day at 1:00 pm.
