King's Women's Swimming Comes Up Short to Cabrini in Home Opener

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 23, 2021) --- The King's College women's swimming team dropped their first home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon as Cabrini University defeated the Monarchs 115-85.

KC began the day placing second in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Kate Duffy, Rachel Woomer, Corinne Smith, and Madison Modugno at 2:01.38, less than a second off the pace of the first place finishers.

Sarah Fleisher and Kiera Booth went 2-3 in the 1000 free at 12:23.14 and 12:36.19 respectively.

Maddison Quick continued her tremendous start as a first-year Monarch by winning the 200 free at a blistering 2:09.45 pace, over seven second ahead of the second place finisher.

Modugno earned second in the 50 free booking a 27.74, while Jamie Navarro and Emilia Serafin place 2-3 in the 200 IM.

Quick finished second in the 100 free with a time of 59.44. Duffy notched another win for the Monarchs in the 100 backstroke at 1:07.53.

The duo of Fleisher and Booth finished 2-3 again in the 500 free at 6:06.62 and 6:09.77.

Despite losing the meet, the Monarchs ended the afternoon on a high note by finishing first and second in the 200 free relay.

KC will look to rebound next weekend when they travel to Mechanicsburg, PA to take on Messiah, Widener, and Hood.
