WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 5, 2021) – The King's College men's tennis team earned a decisive 7-2 win this afternoon against Cairn University to conclude their 2021 fall schedule.
Junior
Logan Gregory recorded two wins on the afternoon. First at No. 1 singles, Gregory cruised through two sets, 6-2, 6-1, over Brad Garges. Then in No. 1 doubles, Gregory paired up with sophomore
Joe Lennon to beat the Cairn duo of Garges and Michael Wilson, 8-5.
At No. 2 singles, Lennon battled with Wilson, dropping the first set, 7-6, before rallying to win set two, 6-4. Then in the thrilling third set, Lennon lost, 12-10. In No. 3 singles play, sophomore
Aidan Temple went toe-to-toe with Jake Edwards, winning set one, 6-4, losing set two, 7-5, before rallying to win the third set, 11-9.
Then at No. 4 singles, first year
Cody Zheng defeated Joel Kim in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6. First year
Jacob Nelson earned his first win of the afternoon over Joel Cassel in a dominant fashion, 6-1, 6-1. Finally in singles play, first year
Alex Nole lost to Ishmael Santana, 6-0, 6-0.
In No. 2 doubles action, the duo of Temple and Zheng battled to defeat the Cairn pair of Edwards and Santana, 8-7. To finish the doubles sweep for the Monarchs were Nelson and Nole, who easily handled Cassel and Kim, 8-0.
