Dahl Makes Season-High 56 Saves At Utica

UTICA, NY (November 13, 2021) – Syd Dahl made a remarkable 56 saves on Saturday afternoon as the King's College women's ice hockey team fell to host Utica College 5-0 in the series finale between the squads at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Dahl stopped 56 of the 61 shots she faced which depending on other games around the nation this weekend would rank fifth in Division III this season. Her save total is also tied for ninth in program history. The first year netminder made 14 saves in the first period, an amazing 23 in the second, and then finished with 19 more in the third.

Utica scored twice in the first period with Georgiana Santullo getting on the board first at the 5:19 mark off assist by Erica Sloan and Carly Stefanini. The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead into the intermission as Abby Lillis found the back of the net at 17:36 with Rebecca Brown and Nicole Flak getting assists on the goal.

In the second period Dahl made 15 saves before the hosts were able to find the back of the net at 14:50 on a goal by Alexa Carlon. Sloan made it 4-0 at the 14:02 mark of the third period with her third of the year before Santullo scored her second of the game and 11th of the season at 18:09.

The Monarchs had 11 shots in the game with Emma Dos Santos and Kait Wolf recording three each. Tessa Deemer had two. Josée Aitken won a team-high eight faceoffs on 21 attempts. The Monarchs were called for five penalties in the game and were successfully killed four of the five power-play opportunities for the Pioneers.

King's will return to Pennsylvania and will play at home at Revolution Ice Centre in their final five games of the first semester. The homestand starts on Tuesday night when the squad hosts cross-town rival Wilkes University at 7 pm.
