PITTSTON, PA (November 20, 2021) --
Jordan Dittmar knocked in a cross-ice pass from
Dianna Duncan and
Syd Dahl made 55 saves to lead the King's College women's ice hockey team in a tough 3-1 loss to visiting Chatham University on Saturday afternoon at Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston.
The Monarchs played the Cougars very tough all game not allowing any easy look at the goal. Chatham got on the board first as Ally Nolan lit the lamp for the fourth time this year off an assist by Lauryn Hwaley at the 3:52 mark of the first period. King's would keep the Cougars at bay for the rest of the period and began the second period strong. Just before the nine-minute mark of the period
Becca Allen found
Dianna Duncan in the middle of the ice right around the blue line. Duncan took the puck to the corner before sending a pass to the front of the net. Dittmar received the pass and knocked it into the back of the net to even the score at one. The goal was Dittmar's second of the year while Duncan and Allen both recorded their first career points.
Chatham retook the lead a few minutes later as Cameron Carmody scored her fourth goal of the season off assist from Trinity Antonio and Allison Corser-James. The Cougars added an insurance power-play goal by Hawley at 13:36 of the third period to set the final score.
Dahl had another fantastic game in net making 55 saves. She had 11 in the first, 22 in the second, and then 22 more in the third period. The Monarchs blocked 19 shots led by
Meghan Mietlicki with five.
Ani Quindipan and
Sam Kulman blocked three shots each.
Erin King had a team-high three shots while Allen took two.
Josée Aitken won a team-high 12 faceoffs.
The Monarchs and Cougars will wrap up the season series tomorrow afternoon with a 2 pm puck drop at Revolution Ice Centre.
