ALLENTOWN, PA (November 20, 2021) --- The King's College wrestling squad competed at Muhlenberg College in the Scotty Wood Duals on Saturday.
In a highly competitive lineup, the Monarchs held their own, but dropped all three duals on the day to a strong Division II team in ESU and two Division III top-25 teams in Central and Johnson & Wales.
King's began the day against a tough team in ESU. First-year phenom
Nick Germano earned the Monarchs three points at 133 with a 10-4 decision win over Kelvin Rodriguez-Molina.
Noah Clawson then added three more points at 141 with a 6-0 decision win over Brian Lombardi.
Robert Zelinski followed up with a win at 149 in a 7-4 decision.
Kade Kravits brought KC within three points of the Warriors with an 8-5 decision win at 174. David White finished off the dual with a 5-0 decision win over Adam Fenner, but the Monarchs were edged out 27-15 by ESU.
KC then took on a top-25 team in Central College. The duo of Germano and Kravits earned the only two wins of the Monarchs in the dual. Germano defeated Cael Cox in a 4-1 decision to earn three points for his squad. Kravits earned a 7-4 decsion win over Christian Wilson to mark another three points for King's. The Monarchs dropped the remainder of the bouts with Central and ultimately fell 43-6.
The squad concluded with a match against No. 10 Johnson & Wales. The Monarchs fought hard to earn a win against JWU, but were unable to defeat the top-ranked side. Kravits suffered his only loss of the day to the No. 6 ranked wrestler in the nation at 174 in Michael Ross. Germano also fell to a top ranked competitor in Gabriel Leo-Esparolini.
The team will return to action on December 4 when they travel to Grantham, PA for the Messiah Invitational.
