SCRANTON, PA (November 21, 2021) -- Junior
Emily Morano finished one rebound shy of a double-double, totaling a game-high 25 points to lead five in double figures as the King's College women's basketball team cruised to a 91-47 win over Marywood University in the second round of the Cross County Challenge. The Monarchs now improve to 3-2 overall, while the Pacers drop to 2-3.
A slow start to the opening quarter had the Monarchs leading, 9-6, with 5:18 to go on a three from first year
Alli Lindsay. King's outscored the 15-11 as both teams came alive to end the first stanza, with King's leading 24-17.
The Monarchs dominated the second quarter as the defense held Marywood to just nine points on 23 percent shooting, holding the 46-26 advantage at the halftime break.
It was more of the same in the second half as the Monarchs outscored the Pacers, 45-21. King's led by as much as 45 points, 84-39, off a three from first year
Maddy White with 3:36 to go in the game before posting the 91-47 final from the John Long Center.
Morano's game-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting led the way as she finished with nine boards and three steals. Senior
Emily Kriston also finished one rebound short of a double-double with 15 points, nine caroms, four assists, and three steals. Lindsay came off the bench as an offensive spark again, earning Cross-County All-Tournament Team honors, as she totaled 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, with two boards and two assists.

Maddy White rounded out the scoring with 10 points each, while junior
Sarah Heiskell-Mann dished out a team-high five assists. Additionally, first year
Caileigh Costello recorded a game-high 10 boards, adding four assists and two steals.
Marywood was led by Kilie Wyers with 18 points, three assists, and two steals, while Savannah Purdy added 11 points and eight boards.
King's shot an impressive 50.7 percent (35-69) from the floor and 43.3 percent (13-30) from beyond the arc, while holding Marywood to just 28.3 percent shooting for the game. The Monarchs also dished out 22 assists on 35 made field goals, while winning the battle on the boards, 47-37. Inside the box score, King's outscored Marywood in points from turnovers (31-7), second chance points (18-12), fast break points (9-2), and points from the bench (36-2).
The Monarchs will take a much-needed break as they head home for the holiday. King's will return to play on Saturday, November 27 as they travel to Drew University for a 2:00 p.m. tip off.
