Dahl Makes 44 Saves Against Manhattanville

PITTSTON, PA (November 5, 2021) – First-year goaltender Syd Dahl made 44 saves for the King's College women's ice hockey team on Friday evening at Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston in a 9-0 loss to visiting Manhattanville College.

The Monarchs had a strong defensive first period with the Valiants scoring just once on a short-handed goal by Morgan Miller 3:35 into the game. Dahl stopped the other 11 shots that went on goal in the period. Ali Noeding and Kait Wolf had shots stopped by the M'Ville goalie during a very defensive period from both teams.

The offense picked up a little in the second period as King's put seven shots on goal while the Valiants took 19. Four of those 19 shots found the back of the net to give the visitors a 5-0 advantage. Fjolla Berisha scored at the 7:55 mark before Miller tallied her second shorty of the game at 11:55. Gabrielle Cox and Hannah Beckman scored within a minute of each other to round up the scoring in the period.

The Valiants scored four more in the third to set the final score. Miller scored twice while Beckman and Cox added goals for the visitors in the final period.

The Monarchs finished the game with 17 shots with five different skaters recording two each. Josée Aitken, Erin King, Wolf, Savannah Willard, and Emma Knoll each had multiple shots on net. Defensively, the Monarchs blocked 12 shots led by Ani Quindipan and Perri Cronk with two each. Aitken had the most faceoff wins on the team winning eight and losing 10. Dahl stopped 15 shots in the second and 18 in the third period.
