DOYLESTOWN, PA (December 15, 2021) -- The King's College men's basketball team shot 62.1 percent (18-29) from the floor in the second half, outscoring the host Delaware Valley University, 52-34, to earn the gritty 80-71 win on the road in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play. The Monarchs break a three-game losing streak with the win and get in the win column against MAC Freedom opponents.
Delaware Valley (6-5, 2-2 MAC Freedom) led the opening minutes of the contest, 20-7, for their largest lead of the game with 11:36 left in the half. A three-point play from first year
Patrick Bennie sparked the King's (5-5, 1-1 MAC Freedom) offense as they opened a 16-5 run to pull within four, 27-23, with 2:50 to go. The Aggies outscored the Monarchs, 10-5, down the stretch to hold the 37-28 advantage into the locker room.

Eamonn Walsh broke the silence to get the King's offense started with 18:11 to play. Delaware Valley led by 11, 43-32, at the 17:22 mark before another Walsh layup and back-to-back threes from junior
Tyler Faux put the Monarchs within one, 43-42. King's then scored the next six points in the game to lead 48-43 with 13:17 left.
The hosts battled back to within two points, 58-56, with 7:40 remaining, but the Monarchs answered again by scoring six unanswered points to counter the Aggies attack. King's led by 10, 69-59, on a free throw from senior
Noah Tanner with 2:34 left before the chaotic ending to the game unfolded. Each team traded fouls, but King's connected on 7-of-8 from the charity stripe down the stretch to post the 80-71 final in Doylestown, PA.
Tanner led three in double figures, totaling 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, with seven rebounds and three assists. Walsh recorded a season-best 18 points, shooting 8-for-10 from the floor, while Castiello added 15 points as he converted on 6-of-10 with four assists. Senior
Patrick Galvin pulled in a game-high 11 boards and dished out four assists.
Godly Marc posted 18 points to lead the Aggies offense, while Francis Robles Montas and Nestor Diaz collected eight rebounds each.
King's shot 50 percent (30-60) from the floor for the game while limiting Delaware Valley to 33.3 percent shooting and 25 percent from three. The Monarchs dished out 17 assists while grabbing 44 boards and forcing 15 Aggies turnovers. Inside the stat sheet, King's held the advantage in points in the paint (38-30) and bench points (35-20).
