Morano and Rajza Combine for 32 Points to Lead Women's Basketball to MAC Freedom Win

DOYLESTOWN, PA (December 16, 2021) -- Junior Emily Morano and senior Samantha Rajza combined for 32 points as the King's women's basketball team earned a 69-41 win over Delaware Valley University on Thursday night in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play.

After Delaware Valley (3-7, 0-4 MAC Freedom) scored the first basket of the game, King's (6-3, 2-0 MAC Freedom) led the rest of the way. The Monarchs opened the scoring with an 11-0 run to the halfway mark of the opening quarter before posting the 15-9 lead at the end of the first.

Spurts of scoring throughout the second quarter stalled the scoring, but King's maintained the lead, 29-13, into the halftime break. The Monarchs also held the Aggies to just four second-quarter points and 7.2 percent (1-14) shooting.

The Monarchs put together their best offensive quarter of the game in the third, outscoring Delaware Valley 23-16 and shooting 58.8 percent from the floor, to hold the 52-29 advantage into the final quarter. King's lead swelled to as much 33, 69-36, on a layup from sophomore Brenna Costello before posting the 69-41 final.

Morano led all scorers with 17 points, filling the stat sheet with six rebounds, a team-high three steals, two assists, and two blocks. Rajza added 15 points, team-highs with eight boards and four helpers, while first year Alli Lindsay poured in nine points off the bench, adding four caroms and two steals. Additionally, senior Emily Kriston also filled the stat sheet with six points, five rebounds, three dimes, and two steals.

Taylor Richardson led the Aggies with a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Lauren Moretti added eight points, four assists, and three steals.

King's went 30-for-66 from the field while holding Delaware Valley to 23.3 percent (14-60) shooting for the game. The Monarchs also dished out 17 assists on their 30 field goals while winning the battle on the boards, 52-36. Their defensive efforts also forced 23 Aggies turnovers, recording 12 steals. Inside the box score, King's held the advantage in points in the paint (38-20), second chance points (16-6), and bench points (22-5).
