Women’s Ice Hockey Defeated By Lebanon Valley In Thrilling Game To End First Semester

PITTSTON, PA (December 4, 2021) -- The King's College women's ice hockey team put together another strong defensive performance on Saturday afternoon as the Monarchs dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Lebanon Valley College at Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston.

The Monarchs and Flying Dutchmen played their second exciting game of the weekend. Both LVC goals came following a strong defensive play by the Monarchs. Jessica Dawe scored both goals for the Dutchmen, with her first coming at 10:25 of the second period. Dawe grabbed a rebound off a shot saved by Olivia Cindrich and knocked the puck into the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Her second goal came late in the third period off a scrum in front of the goal following a shot blocked by Emma Dos Santos. Dawe managed to hit the puck over the line in the middle of a large group fighting to control the puck following the blocked shot.

King's received another strong game in goal by first year Syd Dahl who made 37 saves. She stopped nine shots in the first period, 15 in the second, and 13 more in the third period. The Monarch defense blocked an additional 12 shots led by Erin King and Perri Cronk with three each. Dos Santos blocked two shots. The Monarch offense put 22 shots on goal with four different skaters taking three shots each. King, Meghan Mietlicki, Jordan Dittmar, and Dos Santos all had three shots while Josée Aitken, Kait Wolf, Savannah Willard, and Emma Clark had two shots apiece.

The Monarchs committed four penalties on the afternoon and were perfect on the penalty kill and only allowed eight shots total on penalty kills including just three when the Dutchmen had a two-woman advantage for a full two minutes early in the third period.

King's will now take some time off for finals and the holiday break before continuing their season in January. The Monarchs will be back in action on January 8, 2022 with their first-ever matchup against Arcadia University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 pm at the Hatfield Ice Arena in Colmar, PA.
