Moraca Earns First Collegiate Win For King's Women's Tennis

YORK, PA (March 27, 2021) -- King's College newcomer Briana Moraca earned her first collegiate victory at No. 6 singles, but the Monarch women's tennis team wasn't able to capture any other matches in falling to host York College of Pennsylvania 8-1 in play from the Spartan Tennis Centre Saturday.

The Monarchs (0-2) were only able to pick up three games over the three doubles matches as the Spartans (2-0) earned a 3-0 lead heading into singles action. Seniors Diana Rodriguez and Alexis Zalutko fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Lauren Lamarca and Addie Atkins were bested 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Atkins played a competitive strong match at No. 3 singles, but was bested 6-4, 6-3 by Lauren Ostermann. The lone win for the Monarchs came at the No. 6 singles spot, as Moraca outlasted Emily Louie 6-4 in the first set while controlling action in the second set 6-1 to pick up the win.

King's will now have a break before hosting Misericordia University April 10 at Kirby Park in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC Freedom) Freedom opener.
