King's Women's Tennis Defeated By Bulldogs Saturday

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 17, 2021) -- King's College women's tennis hosted undefeated DeSales University Saturday at Kirby Park, and the visitors were able to stay unblemished with an 8-0 victory over the Monarchs.

King's (0-5, 0-3 MAC Freedom) picked up two games at No. 1 doubles, as Diana Rodriguez and Alexis Zalutko fell 8-2 to Annie Rakos and Alex Rodier. Mikayla Reynolds and Addie Atkins would battle and play well at No. 2 pairs as well, but couldn't overcome the play of Bailey Greco and Kirsten Kosa in a 8-3 loss. DSU also earned the win at No. 3 doubles to sweep the three pairs matches.

In singles, DSU (6-0, 3-0 MAC Freedom) was stout at the top of the lineup, with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles without losing a game. Atkins battled with Greco at No. 3 singles but eventually fell 6-1, 6-3, and first-year Braelan Drollas was upended 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

First-year Jackie Costello had her match ended due to rain coming in, and No. 4 singles ended in a win by retirement for the Bulldogs.

King's will return to action on Tuesday afternoon at Arcadia University, taking on the Knights in Glenside, PA at 2 PM in MAC Freedom action.
