DOYLESTOWN, PA (January 21, 2022) --- On Friday evening, the King's College wrestling squad were defeated on the road by fellow Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) competitor Delaware Valley University 38-6.
The Monarchs (1-12) have already seen the Aggies (3-2) on more than one occasion this season at both the MAC Championships last weekend, the Wilkes Invitational, and the Ned McGinley Invitational.
In an exhibition match at 133,
Nick Germano earned an 18-3 tech fall win over Gio Luciano including several takedowns.
Dave White dropped his exhibition match to Yusuf Aladinov of DVU by fall early in the third period.
KC fell behind early as Ryan Kelly of Delaware Valley earned a pin in 4:18 over
Kyle Miller. At 133, Rashad Stratton topped
Gus Petruske IV early in the first period with a pin at 0:46 to put the Aggies up 12-0.
Noah Clawson fought hard for the Monarchs at 141, but his two escape points were not enough as Russell Benson earned a 4-2 decision win for Delaware Valley. At 149,
Robert Zelinski put up a strong fight against Mike Rubino of DVU. After trailing 7-4 in the second period, Zelinski earned an escape point followed by a takedown to tie up the match at 7-7. Rubino would get the edge on riding time in the third period and take a closely contested 8-7 decision win.
Bret Murphy wrestled up at 157 for King's and took on Greg Croce of the Aggies. Croce would defeat Murphy 12-4 by majority decision. Adam Coleman took down
Jackson Marcantonio at 165 with a pin in the second period to give DVU a 28-0 lead.
King's earned its first win of the day at 174 as senior
Kade Kravits defeated Cooper Kidd by a 3-1 decision. After earning an early takedown in the first period, Kravits secured the win with an escape late in the third period. Chris Richardson of Delaware Valley won by majority decision over
Billy Grace at 184.
In his return from injury, first-year
Jason Sine made his mark by earning the second win of the night the Monarchs. Sine earned two early takedowns in the first period, then added another in the second period. With the match level at 6-6, Sine pressed on in the third period to find his fourth takedown in secure an 8-6 decision win. At 285, Delaware Valley's Austin Williams worked quick to earn a first period fall over
Isaac Mensah at 2:33.
The Monarchs will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Lycoming for another MAC dual. Live action will begin at 1:00 PM at Lamade Gymnasium.
