WILKES BARRE, PA (January 29, 2022) --- On Saturday afternoon, the King's College women's swimming team came out victorious in a 131-23 win over cross-town rival Wilkes University.
In the meet's opening event, the 'A' team of
Katelyn Duffy,
Kellyo Keane,
Corinne Smith, and
Stephanie Tabaka earned the win for King's with a time of 2:05.62.Â
The 1000 free combined both the men and women in today's meet and
Sarah Fleisher put on a tremendous performance to not only earn first on the women's side, but also beat out the male competitor from Wilkes. Fleisher clocked in with an impressive swim of 11:57.20.
Kiera Booth earned a first place finish of her own in the 200 free where she swam a 2:13.92.
Jamie Navarro and Duffy finished right behind in second and third respectively.Â
In the 50 free, Smith edged out the second place finisher by six tenths of a second to earn the win for King's.
Emilia Serafin then claimed first in the 200 IM, booking a 2:30.00.Â
Smith earned another win for the Monarchs in the 100 butterfly when they swam a 1:09.84. King's then earned the top three finishes in the 100 free as Serafin, Keane, and Tabaka went one-two-three respectively.Â
Duffy swam her way to a victory in the 100 backstroke, edging out the second place finisher by less than a second with a swim of 1:07.78.Â
In the 500 free, Booth swam alone and clocked in with a solid swim of 6:00.83 to earn another nine points for her squad.
The team finished out the day in the 200 free relay where
Madison Modugno, Booth, Fleisher, and Serafin teamed up to swim a 1:56.35 and earn first.
The Monarchs will now begin preparing for the MAC Championships which start on Thursday, February 10th at 10:00 AM.
