WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 19, 2022) --- The King's College men's soccer team fell to the visiting Lycoming College Warriors 2-0 on Wednesday night. With the loss King's falls to 4-10-2 overall and 0-5 in MAC play, while the Warriors improve to 8-3-4 and 4-2 in conference play.
It was a fast start for the Lycoming (8-3-4, 4-2), who jumped in front just 1:48 into the game. The Warriors broke the ice as Keller Chamovitz corralled a blocked shot, firing it into the far corner to beat junior goalkeeper Jake Forst. King's (4-10-2, 0-5) settled into the half after the goal, tallying their first two shots. The first came from junior Liam Yair at 5:26. Neither side scored in the remainder of the half, as Lycoming led 1-0 at the break.
Coming out of the break, it was another early goal for the Warriors, this time as Forst got a piece of Joe Bamfo's shot, but it was not enough, as the ball found the back of the net, extending the Lycoming lead to 2-0 at 48:01. King's got a quick response as first-year Philip Permyashkin recorded a shot a minute and a half after the goal. However, the Monarchs were unable to break through the Lycoming defense, as the Warriors held on for the 2-0 win.
Lycoming led in every category, outshooting King's 18-4 overall, including a 10-2 mark on shots on target. The Warriors also held a 9-3 advantage on corner kicks.
Four players paced the King's attack, as first-year Kyle Carroll, sophomore Austin Miller, Yair, and Permyashkin all tallied a shot in the contest. Forst got the start in goal, picking up the loss, while making eight saves on ten shots.
Lycoming was led by Bamfo and Chamovitz who both recorded two points, scoring one goal. Owen Magee added four shots, Jaeden Asare, and Austin Craig both notched two shots. Nick Wilke made the start in goal, picking up the shutout, while making two saves.
King's will remain at McCarthy Stadium for the final home game of the season, as the Monarchs host FDU-Florham at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
