Lauren Chapple scored in the 41
st minute off to knot up the contest, but the Bulldogs found the back of the net in the 42
nd minute as the King's College women's soccer team fell, 2-1, to the host DeSales University on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs fall to 7-6-4 overall and 1-5-2 in the MAC Freedom to end their 2022 campaign, while the Bulldogs improve to 11-5-2 and 5-3-0 in the conference.
DeSales (11-5-2, 5-3-0 MAC Freedom) held much of the possession early before getting on the board first in the 19
th minute as Katie Padget scored on an assist from Allie Trick. The first-half play saw a back-and-forth contest with the Bulldogs posting three shots to King's (7-6-4, 1-5-2 MAC Freedom) one before
Leah Sankey found Chapple for the match-tying goal in the 41
st minute.
The Bulldogs broke the tie just 1:26 later as Emma Riberio posted an unassisted goal to put the hosts ahead, 2-1, at the break.
The scoring was silenced in the second half as the Monarchs and goalkeeper
Tara Bender turned away each of the Bulldogs shots and opportunities in the final stanza before falling, 2-1, in their 2022 season finale on the road at the DeSales Soccer Field.
Chapple led King's with two points on her goal off her lone shot in the game, while Sankey picks up a point with her assist.
Angelina Falcone led the offensive attack with two shots, while
Tara Bender posted nine saves in the goal for the Monarchs.
The Bulldogs were led by Allie Trick who recorded six shots with two on target, while Emma Ribeiro totaled four shots, including a goal. Goalkeeper Hannah Pacheco made one save in the win for the Bulldogs.
As a team, the Monarchs posted five shots and two corners in the match up.
