Women's Swimming Drops First Quad-Match of the Season at Widener University

CHESTER, PA (October 29, 2022)-- The King's College Monarchs women's swimming team hit the road for their first quad-match of the season on Saturday where they fell to Widener University, Messiah University and Hood College. With these losses the Monarchs fall to 0-5 on the year.

The first event of the day was the 200 yard medley relay. This featured a team of graduate student Liz Savidge, sophomore Roni McClelland, junior Jamie Navarro and sophomore Maddison Quick. The team finished in fourth place with a time of 2:05.38.

The next event King's took part in was the 200 yard freestyle. Savidge finished in seventh place in the event at 2:17.03.  The 50 free came after where Quick finished in seventh with a time of 27.20. McClelland also participated in the event and came in 12th at 30.98.

The 400 yard individual medley followed. Navarro came in seventh at 5:19.72. The Monarchs would see their next action in the 100 free. Quick came away with a ninth place finish at 59.42. Savidge competed in her third event of the day in the 200 yard backstroke. Her final time for the event was 2:33.07, good for ninth place. 

Navarro wrapped up the day with the best individual finish for the women. This came in the 200 yard breast stroke. She came in fifth place with a time of 2:48.50. McClelland came in eighth in the same event with a time of 3:11.47.

King's College 16, Messiah University 168
King's College 54, Hood College 97. 

The women's swimming team will return to Scandlon Natatorium on Friday and host a tri-match against Lebanon Valley College and FDU-Florham starting at 6:30 p.m.
